Wine Bar Opening Hours
Monday to Saturday – 12 noon – 11pm
The Kitchen Opens
Monday to Saturday – 12 – 2pm and 6 – 9pm
Whilst bookings are recommended, particularly for Friday and Saturday nights which tend to be fully booked, we will always take walk-ins if we have any tables available. We also run a reserve list in case of cancellations for a fully-booked date.
Not at all! Just come in… anytime 12noon-11pm (approx.) for drinks at the bar, on the sofas, or sitting at any available tables, or if the weather’s good there’s lots of space in our lovely garden. Come on up to the bar to order. We don’t take bookings for drinkers but if you’re coming in with a large group it’s worth giving us a heads-up first.
Yes certainly! We have two beautiful south-facing gardens at the back of Rendezvous with lots of space to drink and dine alfresco, which on sunny summer days bask in sunshine throughout the afternoon until about 7pm if the weather plays ball! We have a few parasols for shade or protection from light rain on a first-come-first-served basis, but there is no covered area nor any heating for cooler or inclement weather. Do bring appropriate clothes and extra layers if you wish to sit outside at other times of the year! The grassy section is cleared of furniture through late autumn/winter/early spring to allow the grass to regenerate. You can book a garden table for lunch in summer, but in the evening whilst you’re welcome to sit outside, we book a table inside as we have limited tables in the restaurant and if it turns chillier you may wish to come in!
Yes absolutely, well behaved dogs are very welcome in the bar and the garden, and if you’d like to dine we suggest the alcove table, a four-seater table which is set slightly aside from the main room down two steps, so your dog won’t be bothered by feet traipsing past, and other diners who are sensitive to animals won’t be affected. Please let us know if you’re bringing a dog when making a booking for lunch or dinner, or just come on in if you’re visiting for drinks.
Unfortunately as we are located in the basement of an old listed building with steep steps leading down to it, the restaurant inside is not accessible with a wheelchair or for people with limited mobility who cannot manage steps. Some of the tables in the garden near the garden gate at the rear are more easily accessed and can accommodate a wheelchair. The far garden has a couple of steps midway, please take care. However, coming in via the garden offers easier steps than the front entrance with wider steps (x7) and a sturdy handrail for those who don’t fancy the steep narrow front stairs. Do take care coming in the front way! Please be aware there are a couple of small steps within the restaurant too, one from the bar into the dining area, and another in the further dining room, and do take care of the low ceilings and beams.
Sorry we close on Sundays and bank holiday Mondays, and between Christmas and New Year for our annual holiday week, but we do open on Good Friday.
Absolutely! We make almost everything here in our kitchen so are fully aware of what is in our food and can easily cater for most dietary restrictions. We suggest advising us of any dietary requirements upon booking, but our front of house team is very knowledgeable and can advise when you’re in. For severe allergies, please be aware that we will never guarantee any food from our kitchen to be completely free of any particular allergen as we do use nuts, shellfish, gluten, sesame or mustard etc. in our kitchen. We are confident with our kitchen practices to avoid cross-contamination without issue and we regularly cater for customers with such allergies, yet some produce and supply chains are outside our control so anyone with a severe allergy should carry an epipen.
We happily cater for vegans here at Rendezvous but as our daily menu is quite small and changes frequently, we don’t have specifically vegan dishes on there, although there’s always a choice of vegetarian options, so with advance warning (24hrs+) our chefs will prepare a yummy three course vegan menu for any vegan guest.
We don’t offer private hire of the whole venue, sorry. We can, on some days, offer the far room for a private event or a lunch or dinner for up to 30 people. (Not Fri/Sat eves)
We can host large parties of up to 30 people Mon-Sat for lunch, and Mon-Thurs for an evening meal. On Friday and Saturday evenings we take a maximum of 6 people on a table. (At Christmas we take groups of up to 30 people for lunch or dinner throughout the week.)
For up to 10 people, we offer our usual daily menu. For groups of 11-14 people, we can offer a limited menu to choose from on the night. For 15-30 people, we send out a seasonal group menu and ask for an order a week in advance. Through December, we only offer our Christmas menu for groups of 6-30 people and this needs to be ordered two weeks in advance.
We are happy to discuss hosting a wine tasting here at Rendezvous at lunchtime, mid afternoon, or early evening 5.30-7.30pm, depending on minimum numbers being met to make it worthwhile having a wine host and setting aside the space in the restaurant, and can plan a tasting to suit your budget and guests. We can also arrange private tastings with Jemma or Rebecca Mitchell as hosts if you can provide the venue, for which we are happy to supply glasses and wines and run the event.
If you are looking for a table today or tomorrow, or wish to enquire for a party of 6+, please call the restaurant on 01392 270222. Please note we are fully booked every Friday & Saturday evening from now until the new year, sorry.
Otherwise, please fill in the form with your booking request and we will confirm as soon as possible. We aim to come back to you within 24hrs (Monday to Saturday) but if you haven’t heard from us after more than a day, do contact us directly by telephone. Please note the booking is not confirmed until you have received our reply.
